Angela spends time with each party during a confidential intake session prior to mediation or commencement of parenting co-ordination programs to assess the complexities arising from the dispute, understand each participant’s perspective and assess barriers that may require suitable adjustments to be made to the process.
Angela is the founding Director at Mediator Hub and is admitted as an Australian Lawyer at the Supreme Court of Victoria however prefers not to practise so that she is able to independently act as a change agent specialising in alternative dispute resolution. Angela has successfully completed a Master of Laws (Applied Law) majoring in Family Dispute Resolution Practice and is one of only a limited number of practitioners who has successfully completed this highly regarded post graduate legal qualification. Angela is registered with the Attorney-General’s Department qualifying her to issue section 60I certificates if required. Angela is also a nationally accredited (NMAS) mediator, trained Parenting Co-ordinator listed with Parenting Co-ordination Australia and is a qualified Trainer and Assessor specialising in conflict resolution management.
Angela has over 30 years experience in coaching and people management. This is the foundation of her success in leading mediations for matters relating to workplace, commercial and family disputes, particularly where parties are emotionally entrenched in the conflict often associated with positional thinking. Angela is a skilled practitioner who provides a stabilising presence for parties who find themselves in highly emotive and complex disputes with others.
Angela prepares participants with customised preliminary information about mediation so they may engage in the negotiation process with confidence to maximise the experience. Angela makes it her business to ensure that individuals feel safe, their perspectives heard and they are empowered to negotiate win-win outcomes based on party interests and not just legal concepts. She is experienced in facilitating sessions involving independent translators and has an interest in continuing academic research in the area of non-verbal communication (including culturally diverse conflict behaviours) and the impacts this has on disputes and negotiation outcomes.
